Chambers Family Announced Philanthropists of the Year

Last week, School on Wheels celebrated the academic achievements of students experiencing homelessness and honored those individuals and corporate partners who made a significant impact on education in the Indianapolis community with the 2017 Education Celebration. This year marks 15 years of dedication School on Wheels brings to the Indianapolis community. With the generosity of the attendees, School on Wheels was able to raise over $260,000.

During the event, our president and CEO, Brad Chambers, along with his wife, Carol, were announced as Philanthropists of the Year. The Chambers have been dedicated to the nonprofit for over 10 years. Carol has devoted countless hours as an office volunteer, tutor, and board member. Buckingham Companies is a proud supporter of School on Wheels’ mission and programs through help with Buckingham Foundation along with supply drives, tutoring, sponsorships, and corporate give back projects.

The Chambers’ generous philanthropic support has enabled School on Wheels to enhance and expand programs and deepen it's engagement with families. Their decade of dedication, leadership, support, endorsement and friendship is valued by the organization, and they are very deserving of this award.

School on Wheels’ mission is to provide one-on-one tutoring and educational advocacy for school-aged children impacted by homelessness. Equipping these children with educational tools necessary to achieve success in life will help break the cycle of homelessness. Founded in 2001, School on Wheels has grown to serve over 350 children each year at 13 partner sites with the help of nearly 400 volunteer tutors.

Buckingham Foundation is proud to support School on Wheels and the good work they do in our community. Since 2010, Buckingham Foundation has granted $30,000 to the organization, in addition to the time and talents of Buckingham employees on School on Wheels volunteer projects.
