How to Apply
Buckingham Foundation, Inc. reviews proposals from nonprofit organizations seeking financial and in-kind assistance. Both new and existing programs and initiatives will be considered. Organizations offering activities and initiatives within the scope of the Foundation’s strategic focus areas are invited to apply for funding by submitting a grant application. The Foundation gives priority to initiatives which have strong potential to produce measurable improvements and achieve long-term sustainability. The Foundation is most interested in opportunities to serve as a catalyst for positive change, support innovation, and leverage significant impact.
The application deadline has now past in order to be considered for 2019 funding. All applications will be reviewed after the submission deadline. Funding decisions are based on available resources and the degree to which proposals meet the Foundation's charitable giving criteria and priorities. The evaluation process usually takes anywhere from two to three months. All proposals are considered on individual merit, and only one application will be accepted from an organization in a 12-month period. Site visits are an important component of the grant review process. The Foundation is limited in the number of projects which will be supported, and Foundation grants will be coordinated with Buckingham Companies corporate support.
Completion of the application is required for all requests. Proposals should not exceed three (3) pages in length (not including supporting documentation such as 501(c)(3) determination, letters of community commitment or support, financial statements, list of board members, brochures). Proposals should be as precise as possible and thoroughly outline the nature of the program. The Foundation requires a follow-up report from every grantee organization within six months of any donation, and a final report on project outcomes and next steps within 12 months of grant acceptance. Future proposals are not automatic and reports are an important factor in future funding decisions.
