20 Years of Giving Back: Celebrating the Buckingham Foundation's Legacy of Impact

Twenty years ago, the Buckingham Foundation set out with a simple but powerful belief: that a company rooted in community should give back to the communities it calls home. Two decades later, we're proud to look back on what that commitment has become.

Since our founding, the Buckingham Foundation has given over $5.3 million to hundreds of organizations across Indianapolis, Nashville, and beyond. That's food on tables, roofs over heads, scholarships in students' hands, and arts and culture thriving in neighborhoods we love.

From Humble Beginnings to a Legacy of Generosity

We started small. In 2007, our first year of recorded giving, we supported six organizations with a total of $7,500. By the following year, we were already expanding our reach.

Year after year, our giving has grown. That growth reflects not just the growth of Buckingham Companies, but the deep commitment of our employees, leadership, and community partners who believe that doing well and doing good go hand in hand.

The Causes Closest to Our Hearts

Over 20 years, a few areas have consistently anchored our giving.

1. Community & Economic Development has been the backbone of our work. From the YMCA of Greater Indianapolis to the United Way of Central Indiana and countless neighborhood organizations, we've invested in the infrastructure that makes strong communities possible.

2. Youth Education & Scholarships have been a cornerstone of who we are. We've proudly supported Crispus Attucks High School, Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory School, and many other schools and scholarship programs.

3. Hunger Relief has never left our radar. Partners like Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana, Second Helpings, Food Finders Food Bank, and our very own Buckingham Food Pantry have helped ensure that our neighbors don't go without.

4. Affordable Housing has always felt personal. As a company that builds homes and communities, supporting organizations like Indianapolis Neighborhood Housing Partnership, Horizon House, and Rebuilding Together Nashville is simply an extension of our mission.

5. Arts & Culture rounds out our portfolio in a meaningful way. The Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, Arts Council of Indianapolis, Indianapolis Museum of Art, and many more have received our support.

More Than Just Dollars

The numbers tell one story, but the full picture is bigger. Over 20 years, our team has shown up for Days of Service, donated in-kind goods and supplies, and built relationships with nonprofit partners that go well beyond a check.

To every organization we've partnered with, every employee who has volunteered their time, and every donor who has contributed to our Angel Fund and open house events: thank you. You are the reason this Foundation exists. Here's to 20 more years of opening doors, building communities, and giving back!
