Volunteer Spotlight: Katie Vrabel

On Saturday, March 5th, Katie recruited a friend and their daughters to volunteer with Keep Indianapolis Beautiful! The volunteers that day were planting 80 trees in Eagle Creek Park and picking up litter. Their team contributed to the event by planting two native oak trees along a bicycle path. The girls were experts at creating mulch “donut” rings around the trees, to protect their roots and support water collection. KIB hosts planting events nearly every weekend in the Spring and Fall, and their goal is to increase Marion County’s tree cover by 100,000 trees! Katie said, “This was an amazing, hands-on way to give back and help beautify the community – with all ages and skill levels participating. The girls were so proud of their work and are already looking forward to the next tree planting event!”

Thanks for giving back, Katie! If you'd like to find volunteer opportunities near you or log your volunteer hours, visit Selflessly.
